Why is No One Having Any Fun?

Updated: Apr 15

Are we having fun yet?
Are we having fun yet?

When did it become so difficult to have fun? Is it just me or does everyone seem miserable.

Has the idea of fun gone out of style? I’ve noticed recently I haven’t heard anyone say “let’s have some fun” or “that was fun” in a long while. I guess the Pandemic has stolen that from us. I guess the world has become so serious that fun is no longer doable. Or is it?

What is fun anyways? Something fun makes me laugh or at least grin from ear to ear. Fun to me means something new, fresh and different that gets my juices flowing and brings a glow and lightness to my soul. Where are those moments anymore?

I have come to the conclusion that what I find fun, might not be the next guy’s idea of fun. So, implementing an event that’s different, hanging with people who make me laugh, smile and have a twinkle in their eye, stimulating conversation, riding my bike, and doing something I’ve never done before might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but what is? I suggest there are things out there that are fun and life does not have to be that serious. We are only here for a short time; shouldn’t life bring us a laugh or two. Laughing is good for your health, makes you pleasant to be around, is contagious (be the one who removes the miserable company).

Have you ever noticed how some people are so bubbly you suspect they may be ‘on something’? They are having way too much fun. It’s easy to get high with drugs, which can be mighty expensive, the trick is how to do it without them.

So, how do you add more fun into life, enough to make you appear high and most importantly feel high? How to put more fun into your life.

When I am having fun, I’m laughing, feel alive, time goes by really fast. I’m engaged and smiling. In her book, “The Power of Fun”, Catherine Price suggests engaging in connection, flow and playfulness to put more fun into your life.

I’m ordering up a big dose of fun for 2025. I challenge you to make a list of 25 ways to have more fun, lighten up and go for it in 2025.

Start with a fun book. One of my favourites: The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson!
