And when you are cooking for one or two, a bowl can simplify your life and make eating alone more appealing and more easy peasy to prepare. Originally, a Poke Bowl is a Hawaiian dish consisting of a base of rice or greens topped with marinated, diced raw fish, most commonly tuna or salmon and various other toppings like veggies, sauces and crunchy elements. The name 'poke' means to dice or cut popular additions like cucumber, avocado, edamame, spicy mayo or soy-based dressing and add.
To hack the Poke, take the concept and personalize it to your taste. Who will know?
The beauty of a bowl is that you can customize the bowl to your liking and the things that you love. All you need to do is gather your left overs or prep your add-ons, fill your favourite bowl with a base of grains or greens add your veggies and a protein. Finish off with toppings of your choice and splash on a zippy prepared or home-made sauce or dressing. Ideal add-ons include pesto, cheese, nuts, herbs, jammy eggs, pickled red onions, chick peas (the ideas are endless). Assemble and Dig in.
